WE MADE IT!! If I don't have to drive 1,536.3 miles for awhile I will be one happy girl! I am so thankful that my dad came with me. It would have been a long boring trip without him. So we finally made it through Kansas (one of my top places never to move! No offense to you Kansas natives, I'm sure I just missed out on the good parts) The first part of Colorado is really flat. Wasn't expecting that! Its practically flat right up to the mountains. Nothing like the east. I got all settled into my room. I must say that I really lucked out with a place to stay. My bedroom window looks out at Pikes Peak. Pretty awesome if I must say so. Its going to take some getting use to. Not have my friends right down the road will be hard, but I look forward to the new friends I'll make. And don't worry everybody! I am coming back...:)

Day 2: Paducah, KY to Nowhere, KS
Ok, so the town wasn't really named nowhere it just felt like it. With the exception of Kansas City (which I believe most of it is in Missouri) I truly believe that Kansas is not yet inhabited. Maybe some cows and deer, but people? Anyway, we drove through Illinois and Missouri to just shy of mid-Kansas. This was a really long day because the land is so bare. Its like the movie Far and Away. Okay, I know that is Oklahoma, but the land is just as bare and deserted as it was in the movie when the settlers race out to claim it.

Book of Truth
One line, or maybe it's a segment.
One hundred different angles,
or maybe they're perspectives.
Words that were breathed onto paper
to change, guide, or light,
a path, road, or life.
How can so much truth
be so hard to believe?
The difference in magic and mystique.
Elements must be perfect
for life to exist.
No closer to the sun
or no further away could we be to live.
Though it's amazing how life
changes the closer you get to the Son.
An incredible homonym.
Too much separation and you
freeze. Or will you burn?
Survival depends on both in my book.
A book with lines, or maybe segments.
One hundred different angles,
or maybe they're perspectives.
A book with so much truth.
Who will believe?

Confessions of a selfish heart
I spent a long time with Jesus today just reading and realized that even though I thought that keeping my distance was best so that I wouldn’t seem cold towards you, I ended up doing that anyway. I failed to serve and be a true friend the way Jesus desires. Several verses stood out to me which describe the way I truly desire to live but have failed and therefore failed you as my friend and sister in Christ: “Love must be sincere, Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” ~Romans 12:9-12 “Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.” ~ 1 Cor. 10:24
I have not loved sincerely or honored you above myself. Though I feel like I am very patient in my own affliction, I didn’t see just how much it affected you. However, along with realizing this, I do rejoice because the Lord always knows the best way to teach and rebuke me. I do not like it nor do I deal with it appropriately all the time. But I would be lying if I were not thankful for all of the times in my life God chooses to use things like this to teach me. “Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” ~Romans 5:3-5
So, as much as I am sorry for the way I handled this and hurt you I am grateful that the Lord who we love so much never gives up on me. I see that in you too. He is always patient with me and never leaves though I practically turn and run away so often. You do the same. He is a God of love and mercy, but also a just God desiring obedience and discipline. He will always pursue and search my heart and demand for me to live a life in reflection of his son Jesus.
